Orange County Announces Recycling Day – Saturday, November 10

Jim Becker, Orange County's Solid Waste Manager receives the proclamation from Mayor Crotty and the commissioners.

Residents are encouraged to attend the Recycles Day event to be held on Saturday, November 10th from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Orange County Landfill -12100 Young Pine Road.

America Recycles Day was designated in 1998 as a national annual awareness event.

The mission of America Recycles Day is to promote the social, environmental, and economic benefits of purchasing recycled content products and to increase recycling participation throughout America.

Observed on November 15, America Recycles Day is a national day on which the President of the United States, corporate and private sponsors, and many local communities throughout the United States promote recycling efforts.

Orange County began recycling in 1990, and citizen participation has increased the amount of material recycled, thereby decreasing the amount of waste placed in the landfill.

Orange County, in recognition of America Recycles Day, will celebrate Orange County Recycles Day on Saturday, November 10, 2007.

Orange County Recycles Day is an opportunity to remind citizens to rededicate themselves to using our resources more wisely by reusing and recycling the materials they purchase, thereby making our communities more livable, our businesses more competitive, and our County a healthier place for future generations to enjoy.

Orange County Mayor Richard T. Crotty proclaims Saturday, November 10, 2007, as ORANGE COUNTY RECYCLES DAY in Orange County, Florida.
